Senior Scientist—Statistics :

Our multidisciplinary team of statisticians, data analysts, scientists, and engineers are engaged to solve complicated product-related problems facing corporations, associations and individuals. We are a boutique consulting firm with excellent growth potential for someone working in product litigation/product safety research.
JPR scientists are actively engaged on a range of leading edge programs and analyses, including: the evaluation and effectiveness of Driver Assisted Technologies, such as Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking and Lane Departure systems. JP Research data scientists also regularly perform reliability and survival analysis of consumer and automotive components, logistic modeling, and other advanced statistical procedures. We are looking for a Senior Scientist with interests/experience in automotive safety and/or consumer product safety areas, with excellent technical skills using statistical analytic methods. Engineering Associate:
Type of Position: Full-time

Research, Inc. currently has an opening for an Engineering Associate. We are seeking a detail-oriented associate to join our consulting team in our Pennsylvania office. The primary focus of this position will be supporting the practice director and other staff with both consulting and research projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, reviewing, analyzing, and synthesizing materials and information relating to particular projects; performing research and biomechanical analyses; and assisting in the preparation of reports. This role involves a close support relationship with JP Research consultants in the Pennsylvania office. The work may involve travel to project sites to perform field research, investigation, and analysis. Knowledge and Experience, Ability, and Skills
- M.S. degree or Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, bioengineering, or mechanical engineering with strong background in biomechanics is required.
- Familiarity with human anatomy and physiology required.
- Experience with injury biomechanics and understanding of human tolerance, and joint mechanics and forces required.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are required.
- Ability to think critically, take initiative, and exercise independent judgment necessary to make decisions within established guidelines that significantly facilitate the work of senior consultant engineers is required.
- Preference for a candidate with a background in whole body dynamics, passive and active human response to acceleration, neuromuscular control, and/or biomechanical modeling.
- Experience with motion capture, accelerometry, and data analysis preferred.
- Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow up on assignments with minimal supervision is required.
- Ability to successfully work and contribute as part of a team is required. The candidate must possess and employ excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, with personnel and clients at all levels.
- Candidate must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills to examine the systems and operations involved in biomechanical processes.
- Ability to learn and adapt to internal and external clients’ needs.
- Rudimentary programming skills are required.
- Matlab or Python skills preferred.
- Professional engineering licensure is preferred. The opportunity to earn the PE as an engineer-in-training will be encouraged and facilitated through experience in working with licensed PE staff.
- Candidate must demonstrate proficiency using advanced word processing, spreadsheet, and graphics software, including MS Office suite, to prepare a variety of documents and informational materials, including graphs, spreadsheets, and reports that contain technical and legal content.
- Knowledge of proper American English usage including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary is required.
- Candidate must demonstrate ability to translate scientific jargon into layman’s terms for explanatory purposes.
Physical Requirements:
- Capable of lifting a minimum of 30 pounds from ground level to chest level.
- Unimpaired speech, hearing, and sight (continuous).
- Postural changes such as sitting, reaching, climbing, standing, walking, and lifting intermittently.
- Standing and walking on various surfaces, including both stiff and compliance surfaces.
Work Environment
Office setting – processing paperwork, working with a computer, and writing reports. Some local or national travel for conferences, exhibitions, or client visits may also be necessary. Generally, engineering associates work a standard 40-hour week, though they may occasionally work overtime to meet deadlines. Potential for advancement within the firm.
Administrative Assistant/Legal Assistant:

JP Research, Inc. currently has an opening for an Administrative/Legal Assistant for our Pennsylvania office.. We are looking for a service-oriented assistant to support the consulting team. The primary focus of this position will be clerical in nature; performing tasks such as scanning documents, logging incoming materials, creating and updating word documents, and supporting the current office administrator. In addition, this role will also assist in managing and organizing the materials and information relating to particular matters and transactions and assist in the preparation of expert reports, document productions, legal research, depositions and trial preparation. The position may also include managing calendars, coordinating meetings and travel arrangements, interfacing with clients and providing administrative support including formatting and proofreading documents and day-to-day office management tasks. This role involves a close working relationship with JP Research administrative team members based in California and Michigan. This positon requires a professional, organized self-starter with the ability to interact with staff and clients at all levels in this fast-paced changing environment. A proactive work ethic, attention to detail and flexible schedule are a must. Strong written and oral communication skills are required. This is a part-time position (initially 10-20 hours per week) with room to grow, including the possibility of additional part-time hours and/or a transition to full-time employment as the office expands. JP Research, Inc. (JPR) currently seeks an Administrative Support Specialist reporting to President/CEO. Ideal candidate has worked in a small litigation or other consulting environment and enjoys the business pace involved. JPR’s clients include the major legal firms nationally and very high profile litigation matters. Must be able to work with and assist a busy company President / Principal Consultant with all aspects of corporate and project business matters. This includes: client interaction, document management and coordination and related follow-up; calendar management; communication with the client on scheduling and deadlines; and coordinating President’s travel. Must be skilled in Word and Microsoft Outlook. Excel and PowerPoint is a plus.
Personal requirements include: Ability to think and act critically in multi-tasking situations; solid organization skills; high professionalism; self-starter with strong work ethic in a fast-pace, changing environment; and an appreciation for and a love of the consulting environment! Excellent written and oral skills and the chemistry needed to work in tandem with the President/CEO are a must. Must also have flexibility regarding hours worked based on President and project schedules.
